Winter Sleep – Aydın Character
You hate somebody his any habit, and you admiration same person his thing.
We wanted to make person with all complexity.
I think Aydın good person at the base.
But you shouldn’t mistaken; it doesn’t mean that we don’t equip Aydın a lot of frustrating feature.

When you make a film or novel your characters’ weaknesses to helps.
Ismail and his son most selfish them most proud, irresponsible people at the same time.

I have a lot of close friends in Istanbul.
We love each among at 5 years.
And then we start a new project and to fall out.
Truly I have such friends even from the cinema.
However we couldn’t pull it of any project.
But decades we thought we are getting along well.
You wants see feeling and sacrifice, but first action it ends in disappointment.

As Winter Sleep same, too. I invent that joke when I make a set.
The cold air turn cold into the train station people.
And I didn’t say Hidayet anything.
However, I said to figurant, “Never stand up and stepping aside!”
And in that scene, Hidayet surprised, and had aggression.
It suited that scene the expression.
When I make a scene shot, I have a lot of imagine more scene my head.
Dozens movie in my mind when I made film.
Cannes jury don’t like long film.
Abdellatif Kechiche “Blue is the Warmest Color” taken Palme d’Or.
The film was long but streameast to watch.
The council was different which choose film, and jury was different also.
Firstly their chosen your film and then other jury look your film which international.
Cannes Festival has cosmopolitan juries.
The referees don’t care about your film’s time.
I had in Cannes as jury.

That time we gave award which longest film that “The White Ribbon.”
But the film was ever shortest which for me.
Because sentimental duration was important not real time for jury.
If you don’t like any film, for instance 90 minutes, this period might seem like an eternity to you.
But if you like the film, you hope it will be long.
Therefore my film when was chosen by jury I hadn’t doubt for my film.
Of course the jury doesn’t might be love my film. Perhaps that chance factor.

Winter Sleep has many detail about our people.
There was a French film critic which hate my films have always 1* out of 5*.
He gave 4* this my film.
When we in the conversation, he ask me:
“I have not like your film at all the time, but I like this film, why?”
I said him:
“I ask you, too.” :)))

Aydin and Necla scene were be very long scene that worries about us.
We put in the effort for several days.
I look at my film’s fiction, scene was 20 minutes about.
The duration is long for audiences.
Sometimes we had argued which 5 hours ongoing all of us in real life.
But you don’t realize how much long, because the argue’s burn effect is hide amount.
20 minutes with argue, it might be normal.
But you in that argue in your life.
But you are not subject in the cinema.
And you know not real.
I did to struggle in fiction that scene to shorten. But I couldn’t success.
I made a lot of short version.
As if the soul of scene will be disappear.
Ultimately that scene must be involves long expression for protect some qualification.
The scene become to ordinary when I make shorten.
The long scene’s spiral conflict will give you hopeless which I want.
And I decided to just free it at that.
Cinema is a place where plans don’t go according to plan.

But then we had consider in the studio.
Fundamentally that might be rough logistic agle.
Haluk had a lot of else projects at that time.

I hadn’t want make scene piece of piece those long and complex dialogs that time.
And then we decided make that scenes interior places.
We made that scenes for 6 weeks.
By the way, my art director Gamze Kuş and her crew had success spectacular.
I had prejudice but this time I liked worked in studio.
Besides, the cinema film includes much more synthetic instruments.
So, the actors make role play and has pretend behavior in the cinema.
In this situation, we shouldn’t wait rain or wind…
When I was a juvenile has some obsession with make a realistic film.
Whereas, the studio give you a control like god.
The studio circumstances is the better than this best open area environment.
If there is noise of open area, the player loudly speaks. You can erase the noice but this time too the player’s noice remained loud.

The human brain is working differently.
Sometimes, you don’t have any remedy and you become who is gentle and easy to get along.
And, you start praise the who opposite person.
Because, you have last resort to calm down yourself.
Yet in this way you can destroy a shame.
If you to have nothing left to do, if you have lost your pride, your confession time is starting.

There was a discussion program on television a few years ago.

But I couldn’t find that novel.
I plundered it all books, but I don’t found.
Perhaps it was another author.
